Rector of International University of Sarajevo Visited the Alija Izetbegović Foundation

On Monday, January 30, 2023, Rector of the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) Professor Dr Ahmet Yıldırım, together with his colleagues Mrs. Velida Handžić-Mirica, Manager of the Communications Office, and Mr. Hamza Preljević, Senior Assistant in International Relations, visited the Alija Izetbegović Foundation.

During the meeting, Rector Yıldırım informed the representatives of the Foundation’s Board, Mr. Zijad Ljevaković and Mrs. Sabina Berberović, as well as the Foundation’s secretaries, about the University’s work and their continuous investment into the quality of education process as well as attracting teaching staff and students from various foreign countries. He especially emphasized that he considered the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina to be in quality education and facilitating the arrival of foreign students who would contribute to the progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina and later be its “ambassadors” throughout the world. 

The Foundation’s representatives informed the IUS delegation about the Foundation’s mission and importance of its work, as well as the implemented and planned projects. During the meeting it was recognized that there was a great potential for cooperation, especially on projects of mutual interest in which other organizations could also participate. In this regard, the IUS’s Balkan Studies Center, which organizes student conferences, competitions, short documentaries production, etc., could be a central point for collaboration.  

At the conclusion of this visit, a frequent communication was agreed up in the period to come in order to determine the possible mutual projects.
