The Youth from Arkanum Adventures Visited the Alija Izetbegović Foundation

The numerous young participants of the “Arkanum Adventures“ from the United States visited the Alija Izetbegović Foundation in Sarajevo on August 23, 2024. Their visit to the Foundation came as a part of this year’s Adriatic adventure to Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Italy.

In the Foundation’s premises, the guests were welcomed by Mrs. Sabina Berberović, a daughter of Alija Izetbegović and one of the founders of the Foundation. During this friendly gathering, they talked about Bosnia and Herzegovina, its rich history and culture, as well as the life and intellectual legacy of President Alija Izetbegović. The youth from the US showed great interest in the Bosnia’s situation, but also knowledge regarding the books written by Alija Izetbegović. After the meeting at the Foundation, young adventurers visited the Alija Izetbegović Museum, and his grave at the Martyrs’ Graveyard “Kovači”.

We think it is very important for young people from all around the world to learn more about Bosnia and Herzegovina, about the history and wealth of our country, but also about the problems we face, and so it was a great honor and joy to have the youth from the United States as our guests, and to hear their views and experiences. 

Arkanum Adventures is a Boston-based social enterprise that has led over 1800 Muslim youth on enriching and adventurous journeys across 78 cities worldwide for over a decade.  These programs serve as catalysts for community bonding, character building, skill enhancement, and bolstering confidence in their Muslim identity. Their mission is to create transformative travel experiences that foster community building and empower Muslim youth on their journeys.
