“And that which we call Bosnia is not just a piece of land in the Balkans; for many of us, Bosnia is an idea, it is a belief that people of different religions, nations and cultural traditions can live together.“ Alija Izetbegović
Today, October 19, 2020, marks the 17th anniversary of the death of the first President of the Presidency of the Independent Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alija Izetbegović.
On that occasion, a Ceremonial Academy organized by the “Alija Izetbegović” Museum was held in the Sarajevo City Hall, starting at 7 p.m. Due to the strict epidemiological measures, a limited number of guests was present in the City Hall, but the Academy was broadcast live by the local television station TVSA.
In addition to the Ceremonial Academy, this year the Museum, in cooperation with the Alija Izetbegović Foundation, organized an exhibition on the life of Alija Izetbegović, which could be viewed every day from October 20 to 29, 2020, in the City Hall.
“When you go through it all and endure it, when you rise again after a hundred stumbles, when you give up false hope and comfort and clench your teeth to openly face the truth, then you realize that the whole meaning of life is to fight evil.“ Alija Izetbegović
